About MAWAAN RIZWAN: WERK IN PROGRESS

Mawaan just finished touring UK/ Australia with Jonathan Van Ness, Queer Eye. After a sell-out Edinburgh Fringe, he’s back to shape a new bonkers show. (BBC2's Live At The Apollo) Mawaan is an actor, writer and comedian. He starred in six part ITV drama Next of Kin as well as the BBC’s BAFTA-winning Murdered By My Father. He's written for the New York Times and his comedy videos on YouTube have amassed over 18 million views. Mawaan has also presented several documentaries for BBC/Netflix, How Gay Is Pakistan? & Getting High For God. He has also just finished writing on the second series of Netflix's 'SEX EDUCATION'. As a comedian, Mawaan’s unique hybrid of confessional stand-up and skilful physicality has taken the comedy world by storm. He supported Simon Amstell (Carnage) on tour in 2018 and his Edinburgh 2018 show Juice was a critical and commercial success, performing to sell-out audiences and receiving a plethora of 4 and 5 star reviews for his ‘thirst-quenching joy-ride of a stand up set’. Mawaan has just finished supporting 'Queer Eye's' Jonathan Van Ness on the UK Leg of his Tour 'The Road to Beijing'. 15+ Tags: Asian Voices,LGBTQ+,Work In Progress
