About Annawon's Song

Annawon's Song tells the story of a Native American military veteran, wounded in both body and mind. His story is twinned with that of an Afghani teenage suicide bomber. Beverly Andrews is an award winning playwright, international journalist and an award winning documentary filmmaker. Her work has appeared on stages in both the UK and New York. She is a multiple shortlisted writer for the Alfred Fagon Award, a recipient of the 2017 Roland Rees bursary, a recipient of Talawa Theatre's black female playwright award bursary, a recipient of eight Arts Council of England research and development awards. Her play on the work of Asian suffragette Sophia Duleep Singh, was recorded for a podcast and is available as part of the Forgotten Women podcast on Spotify, the play was also produced in 2019 in Bhutan, with another production set for 2020 at Tara Arts Theatre. 15+ Tags: Drama,Minority Voices,New Writing *Language of a sexual content and a description of a sexual assault
