About The Book of Liz

Sister Elizabeth Donderstock is Squeamish, has been her whole life. She makes cheese balls that sustain the existence of her entire religious Squeamish community. Join her on her journey to escape oppression to work in a restaurant run by recovering alcoholics. Liz has a sweating problem, and to get a promotion job, she'll have to fix it. Will she go through with it? Will the Squeamish ever guess her secret ingredient? David and Amy Sedaris take us on an adventure to discover what really happens to Liz. The cast includes BUFFY DAVIS (Jolene from THE ARCHERS and a series regular in DOC MARTIN) will be reading the part of Liz. PAUL DUBOIS (actor and founding Artistic Director of Off the Cuff Theatre Company), and other special guests; with guest stars from the members of Shine Cancer Support’s local networks. SHINE CANCER SUPPORT Shine is the only charity in the U.K. that supports young adults in their 20s, 30s and 40s with cancer. We recognise that non-clinical support is essential in helping young adults recover from cancer; especially as our research has shown that young adults in their 20s, 30s and 40s are far more likely than any other age group to feel isolated and lonely. Young cancer patients often find their confidence is knocked and we aim to help rebuild confidence by working with actors to take part in this special read through. Members of the Shine Cancer Support networks will take part in a rehearsal workshop and be involved in the reading on the night as part of Shine's work helping people back on their feet after a cancer diagnosis.
