Dark Matter

Tristan Bates Theatre · 09 APR - 13 APR

Where does the brain go before we die?

Overview

People say your whole life flashes in front of your eyes before you die but what happens when you have dementia? Where does the brain go before we die? Dark Matter is a devised puppetry performance, using Bunraku Puppetry, live microcinema and physical storytelling to dive into the universe of Alfie, an elder astrophysicist who lives with dementia. Star constellations and black holes merge in a race against the clock to discover meaning.

Dark Matter sold out performances at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017 and returns to London before embarking on European Touring in 2019/20.

Vertebra Theatre is a London based ensemble of European theatre makers who devise performances stretching the boundaries between object theatre, dance and the visual arts.

Please note that there will be a post-show Q&A with the cast and creative team after the matinee on 13th April. This will be free to matinee ticket holders.

Critic reviews

It’s a highly emotive play but it’s handled so carefully
