Overview

Two shows written 40 years apart about women and self image performed by an intergenerational cast.

In 1979 Daphne, the Slimmer of the Year loses 6 stone but finds temptation too hard to resist. Joanne binges on Mars bars when her mother tries to persuade her - yet again- to diet and find a boyfriend. That play was Baring the Weight, inspired by Susie Orbach's Fat is a Feminist Issue.

The 2019 show Extreme Makeover Mum: Greenham Common meets reality TV. The older generation are “The Bingo Wings” who sing about loving their bodies and munch sat fat snacks. Their daughters wonder if there is such a thing as feminist Botox. The patriarchy? labioplasty? maternal guilt? plastic sugery? it's all here but we guarantee you'll laugh and leave humming the songs. Woman as victim? Woman as irrepressible survivor! Oh yes
