Debris

Debris

1 no. saves icon · Fringe Theatre, Contemporary

Dennis Kelly’s remarkable debut, revived by Battered Soul Theatre for its 15th anniversary, finds humour and pathos in a spectacularly dysfunctional family unit and has more to say now than ever before.

Overview

Debris is about searching for meaning when religion is no longer enough. Through monologues and duologues, the play dissects what society can take value from nowadays,
exploring collective insecurity created by unrealistic societal expectations.

The play's focus on what is really a true story and struggling young people has acquired anew relevance against a new backdrop of an internet-obsessed nation veering towards right
wing politics.

From the writer who brought us Utopia, DNA and Matilda the Musical, come and revisit the
dark world where Dennis Kelly’s unique talent was first discovered. Sit up and listen – you’re not going to forget Debris in a hurry.
