The Sleeper

The Sleeper

Darkness can do strange things to your mind. It’s so easy to make a mistake.

On an overnight train somewhere through Europe, Karina, a British writer, naively reports a refugee hiding in her bunk. Forever connected by this simple action, these two women are played and replayed in the mind of a writer who examines the stories we tell each other and how we choose to tell them.

Weaving together the real testimony of Syrian refugees and the personal experience of writer and director Henry C Krempels (No Show Arcola, Place to Be VAULT Festival, Young Vic Director’s Program) this innovative new play draws from his unusual story commissioned by Vice Magazine at the height of the immigration crisis.
