The London International Mime Festival kicked off the theatrical year in style, but one performance, Nikki Rummer’s Unbroken, was delayed. Now, the debut solo show by circus wonder Nikki Rummer (you will know her from Barely Methodical’s Kin and as part of the hugely successful acro-duo Nikki and JD) is finally arriving at The Place. Drawing on autobiography and memory, the piece is set over Christmas, as three generations of a family are summoned home and a long buried secret is unearthed.
Unbroken is the debut solo performance by physical theatre and circus artist, Nikki Rummer. One bittersweet Christmas, three generations of the Rummer family are summoned home for one last gathering. Told through the eyes of a daughter, Unbroken weaves fragments of memories into the body of one performer as a dark, previously buried secret finds its way to the surface. Combining her talent for storytelling and her unique movement language inspired by her acrobatics, gymnastics and capoeira practice, Nikki tells a very personal story with universal resonance.
