“The Clod Ensemble have been around for many years but the company’s invention and ability to work across disciplines never seems to flag. Science is often at the core of their work, asking questions about what makes us human. This performance takes the form of an experiment between seven dancers and the audience, looking at why the placebo effect works and exploring the power of suggestion. A timely intervention, considering the way in which the boundaries between what is real and what is fake have become blurred in recent years.”

In Clod Ensemble’s Placebo, seven dancers reckon with the 'placebo effect'. By playing with themes such as expectation, suggestion, pleasure and pain, the performers ask: do we have the power to make ourselves feel better?

With a euphoric electro soundtrack by composer Paul Clark, director Suzy Willson’s Placebo is an energetic expression of the connection between our minds and bodies. Come and enjoy Clod Ensemble’s creative spirit in a collaboration of dance, theatre, visual art and fashion for all audiences – whether dance experts or complete novices.
