It will be goodbye to the Bunker Theatre a little later in the year. The final piece to have a month-long run there is this new play set in an alt-right alternative present nightmare where an individual’s value to society can be measured by a new app. It’s the brainchild of a deaf business-woman Jo, and of course she has absolutely nothing to fear from her own invention. Or has she? The play is performed in BSL and spoken English and all performances will be relaxed. Also, at the Bunker on Sundays and Mondays only is The Girl with Glitter in Her Eye, OPIA Collective’s piece that about female friendship, trauma and consent.
Jo’s winning at life. Her business is going brilliantly. She’s Cost Positive. She’s even on the telly. She’s a Deaf woman turning the hearing world on its head. Until the system turns on her. A malevolent bureaucracy, the rise of alt-right politics, and the human lives caught in the middle all ask: what happens if you believe ‘it’ll never happen to me’? The Process is told in BSL and spoken English. Every show will be performed in a relaxed environment, with relaxed performances on 21 and 28 January 2020, captioned performances available on selected dates through The Difference Engine, and an audio-described performance on 30th January. Age Recommendation: 14+
