Pirates Chopped My Willy Off delves into the hidden moments of adolescence; the sleepovers, rituals, naïve misconceptions, outrageous games and experimentations with our identities. Combining heavily stylised comedy, physical theatre, live music featuring original songs and verbatim, we aim to bring authentic childhood experiences to light. This is a community inspired show, featuring real stories from across the UK. We will indulge in the freedom of imagination and uninhibited exploration of our younger selves which we often lose on our journeys to adulthood. Following a five-day R&D at The Albany, we will be holding this sharing of our latest work, and would greatly appreciate feedback. We question: why do we relegate adolescence into a discrete chapter with no bearing on who we are now? Why not acknowledge that our youth, defined by outrageous play, uninhibited experimentation and irreverent self-definition, lay the groundwork for the who we are today? Audiences will leave laughing, crying and craving a game of spin the bottle. Age Recommendation: 14+
