Two contrasting plays from the Women's Voices / Voix des Femmes series - watch them in English, French, or both

Working Girls is the first part of a series of plays called Women's Voices/Voix des Femmes, which is the result of a British-French theatre project exploring female prostitution from different perspectives. This particular performance is made up of two short plays by Kay Adshead and Isabel Allende. You may choose to watch the play in English, French, or both!

The Last Little Girl by Kay Adshead tells the story of a teenage girl in the north of England who runs away from a care gine and falls into the hands of a network of gangsters involved in the sex trade. A stark, passionate and very poetic piece, It is powerfully acted by Lauren Cato (English) and Sarah Labrin (French).

In Simple Maria by Isabel Allende, the protagonist is the most famous prostitute in the country, whose name is tattooed on the forearms of sailors across the world. In this evocative magic realist piece, both moving and comic, Maria talks to us from beyond the grave. The play is stunningly performed by Josephine Welcome (English) and Nadine Servan (French).
