She sits in the afternoon sun brushing her grandchildren’s hair, knitting sweaters for winter and making cakes. Zubair’s grandmother seems like everyone else’s grandmother. As a girl she lived through the death and destruction of the 1947 partition between India and Pakistan, but the separation, isolation and loss of that time are now a distant memory. Spanning three generations, as told to a grandson, we hear Eliza’s story - the story of a young couple, fleeing their country, their religion, their lives for love, and for freedom.
