My Grandma’s a Walrus is a one-woman play about Naira, a mixed-race girl, deemed too white to be Indian and too brown to be English. Set within a hectic, colourful, Indian wedding, we follow the relationship between Naira and her grandmother, Chaiji. Naira speaks only English and Chaiji speaks only Hindi, however this doesn’t hinder their relationship and rather poses the question: “Is language integral to love?” A piece of storytelling told by Naira and an ensemble of puppeteers, who create a world of flying carpets, cigarette stubs, magic shoes and mad aunties!
