The SpongeBob SquarePants Musical follows the story of the beloved sea sponge and his friends in Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob SquarePants has a good life in his pineapple at the bottom of the sea, caring for Gary The Snail and flipping Krabbie Patties at the Krusty Krab. However, when a volcano threatens to destroy Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob’s peace is disturbed. Together with his best friends, SpongeBob is on a mission to unite the town and save Bikini Bottom.

The SpongeBob Musical is based on the beloved children’s TV show, SpongeBob SquarePants, created by marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg. Debuting in 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants went on to become Nickelodeon’s most successful media franchise, their highest rated series and their most profitable. SpongeBob SquarePants has also won many awards, including four Emmy Awards and two BAFTA Children’s Awards.

The SpongeBob SquarePants Musical was written by Kyle Jarrow and conceived by Tina Landeau. It features original music from Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and T.I. The SpongeBob SquarePants Musical also features additional songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny and Andy Paley. Additional lyrics were provided by Jonathan Coulton and additional music was provided by Tom Kitt.
