Pippi Longstocking has carrot-coloured hair and a freckly face, and lives with a monkey and a horse (which she can lift above her head) in a little Swedish village, near her two best friends, Tommy and Annika. This one-woman storytelling performance, with plenty of audience participation, invites you to meet this brave, clever and kind-hearted nine-year-old girl. The show is a collaboration between Danyah Miller (I Believe in Unicorns, Why the Whales Came, Perfectly Imperfect Women) and award-winning director Helena Middleton (Education, Education, Education, Star Seekers, Pippi Longstocking – The Musical Adventure). Find out how Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi has inspired fans the world over, including Lauren Child, Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga and Cerys Matthews. ‘I was really fascinated with this strong little girl that was the center of everything, and she was almost magical in a way. She was stronger and tougher than anyone. She had super-human strength, and I got a kick out of her.’ -Michelle Obama Age Recommendation: 5+
