5 (1) · Dance, International Productions
Hindu Gods, black holes and Indian time cycles are among the inspirations for Akram Khan's dance work
Overview
After 18 years, Khan returns to Southbank Centre with his company's first full-length dance production, created in 2002 in collaboration with visual artist Anish Kapoor and composer Nitin Sawhney.
In an exclusive four-show run, the company invites a cast of international performers to bring Kaash (Revival) back to life once more.
Kaash (the Hindi word for ‘if only’) continued Khan’s quest to build bridges between the worlds of contemporary dance and the Indian classical dance form Kathak.
The revered dance-maker appears as part of our Shankar 100 series, celebrating pandit Ravi Shankar’s 100th birthday celebrations in 2020.
