“There is something for everyone at the Southbank Centre this Christmas ranging from the family friendly Circus 1903 in which modern circus skills meet Victorian costumes, to the Tiger Lillies with their skewed take on A Christmas Carol. The main event is the arrival of Bring It On, the musical in which Lin-Manuel Miranda had a hand based on the 2000 movie starring Kirsten Dunst about a high school cheerleading team who are preparing for national competition. The show requires as much gymnastic prowess as it does the ability to hold a tune and comes in a tradition of screen to stage musicals that will appeal to fans of Heathers and Legally Blonde.”

Overview

The smash-hit Broadway cheerleading musical backflips into the UK, starring Love Island’s Amber Davies and Olympic gymnast Louis Smith.

Inspired by the film of the same name, Bring It On: The Musical takes you on a high-flying, high-energy journey tackling friendship, jealousy, betrayal and forgiveness – wrapped up in explosive choreography and tricks.

Cheer-royalty and newly crowned Squad Captain, Campbell (Davies), should be embarking on her most cheertastic senior year at Truman High School.

When she’s forced to move to the neighbouring hard-knock Jackson High, Campbell fears her life is over.

But an unlikely friendship catapults Campbell back into contention, with a powerhouse squad and the fire to achieve the impossible.
