“As a child, dancer and choreographer Chris Fonseca lost his hearing when he contracted meningitis. For a long time as a black deaf child growing up, he felt his difference keenly. Then he discovered music and dance. This hip-hop gig theatre show comes fully BSL integrated and tells Fonseca’s story as it celebrates identity, dance, music and being yourself in a world that tries to exclude you.”

Overview

No code. No imprint. No escape.
But this is not a tragedy. This is a story of hope. This is a story about owning your identity.

Once upon a time there was a boy from down the road
He contracted meningitis at the age of two years old
His life had been ok but now little did he know
His hearing was to leave him and was due to change his world

This is the world premiere of Follow the Signs – a brand new piece of fully BSL-integrated hip-hop gig theatre.

All performances will be in BSL, Spoken English, Rap and English Captions.

Age Recommendation: 16+
Trigger warnings – this show includes scenes with bullying, racism and audism.
