“I notice that home-grown circus outfit Barely Methodical Troupe will be back in Edinburgh this summer with their first hit, Bromance. SHIFT is another one they made earlier. It’s not such an obvious crowd-pleaser but it is a clever, thoughtful circus show with plenty of impressive tricks in which three men and one woman employ minimal equipment and endlessly test each other using only their own bodies, a single Cyr wheel and thick rubber resistance bands. The latter really up the ante: watching people get tied up in knots has seldom been such fun.”

Overview

The company who brought you smash hits BROMANCE and KIN return with their brand new show SHIFT – with a dazzling array of tricks, humour and energy, this ensemble of 4 will challenge everything you thought you knew about gravity and physical achievement.

One of the UK’s hottest circus companies Barely Methodical Troupe are at the forefront of a new kind of physical performance, creating highly entertaining shows that mix the show-stopping acrobatics of circus with the emotional punch of theatre.

Core BMT members big man Louis Gift, international cyr wheeling star Charlie Wheeller and phenomenal flyer Beren D’Amico are joined by top fearless Swedish acrobat Esmeralda Nikolajeff.
