About Wyspiański: Hamlet Study and The Death of Ophelia

The evening consists of two linked events. The first is an introduction to the life and works of this extraordinary artist via a discussion between translators Barbara Bogoczek and Tony Howard and Dariusz Kocinski, chaired by Patrick Spottiswoode. This will be accompanied by extracts from The Hamlet Study (1904) read by Globe actors. The second half of the evening is a semi-staged performance of Wyspianski’s one-act play, The Death of Ophelia (1905) in the beautiful candle-lit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. Part of the Shakespeare and Poland Festival
