About Mad Girl's Love Song

‘I should have loved a thunderbird instead; At least when spring comes they roar back again. I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead. (I think I made you up inside my head)' Mad Girl’s Love Song follows a tumultuous romance, from early and intense infatuation, to family interventions and restraining orders. Mad Girl’s Love Song is a physical and poetic account of domestic and gendered violence in Latin America, through the eyes of the victim. Using movement, music and poetry, this work-in-progress piece explores the different emotional stages through which the victim goes through, as well as the bureaucratic and social structures that impede her from feeling safe and heard.
