Regent's Park Open Air Theatre presents Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic musical, Evita.

“The beautiful Open Air Theatre in Regent's Park is a wonderful spot for summer theatre. Following on from their success with Jesus Christ Superstar, the team there are having a go at another of Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic musicals: Evita. It’s already had some great reviews of its own so you’d be a fool to miss it.”

“This production is already the Open Air Theatre’s fastest selling show in its history and it’s not hard to see why. The theatre had a tremendous success with Jesus Christ Superstar, so naturally there’s a lot of excitement about this next Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. And with Jamie Lloyd directing, fresh from his triumphant Pinter at the Pinter season, it’s likely to be a big hit. With Jesus Christ Superstar still at the Barbican, and Joseph just opened at the Palladium, it’s a summer feast for Andrew Lloyd Webber fans. But I must say I have a particular soft spot for Evita.”

From a life of poverty to the First Lady of Argentina, Eva Peron was hailed as the spiritual leader of the nation. Seen as the champion of the poor, her ambition, glamour and power made her the world’s first major political celebrity, winning the adoration of the people.

With a chart-topping score including Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, Oh What A Circus, You Must Love Me, and Another Suitcase in Another Hall - and having “redefined Jesus Christ Superstar for a whole new generation of theatregoers” (WhatsOnStage.com)
