With music and lyrics from the legendary Motown Catalogue and based on the book, The Temptations, by Otis Williams with Patricia Romanowski. AIN’T TOO PROUD has a book by Kennedy Prize-winning playwright Dominique Morisseau and reunites two-time Tony Award winning director Des McAnuff with Tony and Olivier Award winning choreographer Sergio Trujilio, whose previous collaborations include the Tony Award winning hit show Jersey Boys.

During a period of civil unrest in the US, The Temptations weathered many storms that threatened to tear the group apart and tested their brotherhood to its limits. Ain’t Too Proud brings you along on their journey.

But America in the 1960s is an uncertain place, and the civil unrest running rife throughout the nation is felt even as The Temptations sing on. With personal and political conflicts threatening the fabric of the group, can The Temptations continue to soar to even higher heights? Or will it all come crashing down?

Ain’t Too Proud cast and creative team

Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations boasts an impressive creative team. The show has a book by Dominique Morisseau, winner of many playwriting awards and author of plays such as The Detroit Project, Skeleton Crew and Paradise Blue. It’s also based on the book The Temptations by Otis Williams, founder and sole surviving member of The Temptations. Williams also acted as an executive producer.

Ain’t Too Proud has Tony-winning choreography by Sergio Trujillo, whose extensive Broadway resume boasts shows such as On Your Feet, Guys And Dolls and Jersey Boys. Two-time Tony award-winner Des McAnuff directs, known for his work on Broadway productions such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Guys And Dolls and How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Casting is still yet to be announced.

Ain’t Too Proud songs and music

Ain’t Too Proud takes its soundtrack from many of The Temptations’ most beloved recordings, bringing The Legendary Motown Catalogue to life onstage. The show is packed full of Motown classics such as ‘My Girl’, ‘If You Don’t Know Me By Now’, ‘Shout’, ‘Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone’ and ‘I Could Never Love Another (After Loving You)’.
