“The natural phenomenon of fireflies provides the inspiration for Spark, the opening show in this year’s Greenwich + Docklands International Festival. The festival also includes the first London showing of Common Wealth’s Peaceophobia, a show which premiered to acclaim in Bradford and which brings together Islamophobia and the subculture of modified car enthusiasts. If you missed Tara Theatre’s Final Farewell first time round there’s a chance to catch this eulogy to pandemic loss, and look out for Fevered Sleep’s audio artwork, The Sky is Filled with Thunder, made with children and young people. This is a festival which always throws up brilliant surprises and many events are free.”

Overview

Greenwich+Docklands International Festival (GDIF) is London’s leading festival of free outdoor theatre and performing arts and, in the words of The Guardian, makes an “unrivalled contribution to the happiness of the people of London”. GDIF is committed to breaking new ground in outdoor performance and raising the ambition, quality and diversity of outdoor work produced in the UK.

GDIF forms part of the Royal Greenwich Festivals, an annual series of high-quality events organised by the Royal Borough of Greenwich to celebrate cultural vibrancy, and is the flagship annual event produced by FESTIVAL.ORG.

Following a successful 25th anniversary festival produced during the COVID-19 pandemic, FESTIVAL.ORG is now offering consultancy in several areas.

From Woolwich to Canary Wharf, Plumstead to Bethnal Green, soon these locations will be transformed.
