Pam MacKinnon is the Artistic Director of American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. She is a Tony Award winning director for Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (Steppenwolf, Arena Stage and Broadway) and an Obie Award winning and Tony nominated director for Bruce Norris’ Clybourne Park (Playwrights Horizons- world premiere- Mark Taper Forum, Broadway). Pam is also the president of the executive board of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, a nationwide U.S. labor union.
Bruce Norris’ plays include A Parallelogram, The Qualms, The Infidel, Purple Heart, We All Went Down to Amsterdam, The Pain and the Itch and The Unmentionables at Steppenwolf; Domesticated at Lincoln Center; and The Low Road at the Royal Court Theatre. Norris’ play Clybourne Park had its premiere at Playwrights Horizon, NYC, and is one of only two plays to have won an Olivier Award, a Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award.
