The Edinburgh fringe may not be happening this year but some of the shows that should have been there will be playing Wandsworth instead. There is a good array of theatre in tandem with the comedy and magic and live events such as the Guilty Feminist podcast. Look out for Will and Co’s Bard in the Yard with Lucy Aarden as a Will Shakespeare turning to sourdough baking during the plague because of writer’s block. You have to buy tickets in advance so it’s worth looking ahead to future offerings in August.

About Bard in the Yard

Quite literally stuck. While everyone's expecting him to write a masterpiece, he's spending his time baking sourdough bread and reading up on Ben Jonson's latest run around the Tower. Fasten your face masks on as the Bard takes you on a roller-coaster ride through his classics and uses you, the audience, to help rekindle the fire of his Muse! A concept imagined by Will & Co’s Artistic Director Victoria Baumgartner and performed for you tonight by one of our many fantastic Bards across London, Lucy Aarden. Lucy has starred in HBO’s Game of Thrones, BBC’s Tracey Ullman Show, Our Girl and Amazon Prime’s Hanna. At The Pleasance Theatre in London Lucy was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Laura Wade’s Posh. She has toured the UK with Permanently Bard playing some of Shakespeare’s best-known heroines to audiences of rowdy pub-goers.
