The Colour Violet

The Colour Violet

Camden Fringe: Week 4

“A monologue inspired by one of the greatest Latin American songwriters of all time.”

The folk talent of Bob Dylan, the social influence of Frida Kahlo and the brilliant, troubled mind of Virginia Woolf.

Songwriter, folklorist, visual artist and poet, Violeta Parra is one of the greatest -and most controversial- Latin American artists of all time. But just like her art, Violeta’s mind was hectic.

“The Colour Violet”, is a fictional portrayal of Violeta’s mental voyage, exploring her life through her last songs, from “joy to sorrow,” and life to death.

Witty, visceral, feminist; welcome to the journey of an extremely talented woman who is ahead of her time and struggles with the demons in her mind.

“The Colour Violet” aims to raise awareness of the stigma surrounding mental health problems and encourages its audience to understand and empathise with the topic.
