Matador(a)

Matador(a)

1 no. saves icon · New WritingFringe Theatre, Contemporary

Framed by the pomp and ceremony of bullfighting and inspired by a catalogue of entertainers who have died during performance, the piece is a darkly funny meditation on empathy, death and snails.

Overview

Matador(a) is a piece of devised theatre made and performed by us: Adam Foster and Susan Kempster – a playwright and an award-winning choreographer and performer respectively.

In a world where we find ourselves more emotionally engaged by videos of cute kittens on the internet than unimaginable human tragedies in the distant Third World, we want to challenge our audience to interrogate what they really feel at a time when we are witnessing an arbitrary disintegration of empathy.
