Modern female sexuality and Christianity: are they as uncomfortable bed fellows as they appear to be?
Overview
Beside Ourselves Collective’s first devised production, Just Don’t Do It, is a surreal journey into the modern Church’s approach to sex, celibacy and female sexual desire. Drawing on our personal experiences as lifelong Anglicans, and enlightened by the difficulties and joys of women from a wide variety of denominations, our road safety clowns will attempt to clarify all that has not been clear on this subject with a few simple signs. Warning: there is no entry to Pleasure Street for vehicles with single passengers.
Fusing clown with operatic vagina puppets and a mythological reunion with sacred rage, join us as we delve into the confusing, the painful and the funny in asking: is ‘Just Don’t Do It’ the sum of what the church has to say about pre-marital sex?
