About Happily Ever After

Artistic Rebellion wants to challenge the political status quo in the style of a devised one-woman musical. As the world faces a pandemic, climate crisis and increasing wealth gaps we ask the question “Does capitalism make us happy?” Through juxtaposing classic fairy tales with verbatim accounts and economic theory, actor, singer/songwriter and feminist theatre maker Linn Johansson invites us to dream collectively about Utopia. There will be roller-skating, multi-rolling and original music in order to do the impossible – talk about political economics whilst keeping you entertained! On a ride through human history, you will learn about the difference between humans and bees, dating in a market economy, why women had more orgasms in East Germany and how Walt Disney went from empty pockets to a multi-billion company by building a mechanical bull. Happily Ever After is radical, angry, hopeful and entertaining. It is graphic novels meeting solo cabaret and Berthold Brecht marrying Disney. It is a colourful, ridiculous and utterly dead serious attempt to dream about a different world. Music Collaborator: Inès Murer
