n the warm comfort of a dark room, wrapped in a duvet and consuming endless amounts of biscuits, we find the Searcher. She’s most of us – face lit up by a laptop screen, scrolling away at the chaos of the world. She’s overwhelmed and paralysed. She’s trying to comfort herself. And she’s looking for love. ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE? is dangerously loose’s first production. The company was moved to action, much like the Searcher, by a desire to understand how love can figure in today’s unstable climate. Inspired by the words of academic thinkers on pluralism, activism and the politics of emotion, as well as by Extinction Rebellion’s wave of civil disobedience, AYNIL sees big ideas through the lens of personal conflict. It asks: what moves us to action? And can love play a part? Playing with projection and digital spaces, movement and clown, cacophony and silence, AYNIL places bodies at the centre of the action. dangerously loose invite the audience to join the Searcher on a quest for connection with the stuff that matters to us. To be restless, to find common ground, to be loving.
