It makes sense to take an umbrella out when its raining, but mental health is much harder to understand than the weather. Combining clown comedy and dance-theatre, Silent Faces present A Clown Show About Rain, a dazzling look at the complexities of understanding and dealing with depression.
Overview
Silent Faces tackle complex issues through physical comedy, finding that the best way to talk about the ‘hard stuff’ is to start by making people laugh. In this new work-in-progress, they smash together clowning with beautiful visual imagery and physical theatre, viewing mental health through a new lens. Questioning why we find it hard to appreciate the struggle faced by those suffering from depression, and exploring how destroying the stigma around mental health could help, A Clown Show About Rain explains why being asked to ‘cheer up’ is sometimes a ridiculous request.
Critic reviews
A fantastic show, and a testament to just how creative and innovative the very best of theatre can be. Ever-changing and energetic, it’s almost bewildering to see something so fun, that simultaneously feels so important.
