“I love this show. If you are looking for a family musical on the West End, this one is top of the class. Tim Minchin (music and lyrics) and Dennis Kelly (book) actually improve on Roald Dahl’s original by giving the little girl at the centre of the story real agency and a chance to change her own story. The music and lyrics are both intricate and witty, the characterisations bold—the fearsome headteacher Miss Trunchbull is played by a man—the design (Rob Howell) is ingenious and Matthew Warchus’ production zips along but makes sure there is plenty of heart under all of the fizz.”

Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl

Matilda is the captivating musical masterpiece from the Royal Shakespeare Company that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a girl who dares to change her destiny.

Smart, quirky and sublimely good fun. A moving and subtle spectacle which will have kids in stitches and adults in tears. It is guaranteed to delight anyone who’s ever been a child. I can’t wait to see it again.
