A BAC Beatbox Academy and Battersea Arts Centre Production

“Battersea Arts Centre is one of the most innovative theatres in London and this performance by the BAC's Beat Box Academy, is a real breath of fresh air. The raw talent on stage is spellbinding. It's brilliantly fun, beautifully designed and compellingly told. Our users are absolutely loving it and it's got stellar reviews from critics but there's only a few days left to catch it. Go go go!”

“Mary Shelley’s gothic invention is reimagined by BAC’s Beatbox Academy who literally breathe new life with a mixture of vocal percussion and rap. This was a winner at the Offies, and it is sharply contemporary. It’s heart-breaking to watch its young makers consider what it means to be made to feel that you are a monster.”

Overview

Inspired by Mary Shelley's original tale of power and persecution, Frankenstein explores the idea of what makes a modern monster, amped by beatbox, song and monstrous soundscape.

BAC Beatbox Academy is Battersea Arts Centre's home-grown young collective. They have performed all over the country from Latitude Festival to The Royal Festival Hall and have appeared on Gareth Malone's The Choir. Current members are ranked within the top 10 beat boxers in the UK.
