This one hails from one of our favourite companies, Gecko, and it is as rich and visually arresting as you’d expect from this company which has made its mark as one of the UK’s most constantly inventive companies. It’s also very unsettling, taking place in an exquisitely designed space filled with filing cabinets that could be a hospital or something more sinister. There is more than a touch of the Kafkaesque in this world where men are damaged and possibly seeking help or escape, and episodes from their lives leak from filing cabinets. It is a teasing, at times bewildering, but always engaging and very intriguing.
Enter a shadowy establishment where residents attempt to create order from the chaos of life. Carers become patients, memories fracture and relationships collide. Physical theatre company Gecko has a reputation for generating unique worlds, intoxicatingly beautiful scenes and breathtaking choreography. Based on their internationally acclaimed production by Amit Lahav, this film is a visually captivating and poetic dissection of the way we nurture and care for ourselves and each other.
