About Elision

Imagine you are floating far away from everyone and everything you know. You are not on a lilo, you are on a door. You are not warm, you are freezing cold. With you is someone really important to you. Do you share the door or do you keep it to yourself? In a climate of division and disconnection, Elision explores alikeness, otherness and ideas of belonging through light-hearted attempts at staying warm. The lights are bright, the ice is melting and the set slowly deflating as the performance unravels through ever-changing text, movement and audience interaction; swiftly moving between humour and seriousness, life and death. Drawing on autobiography, pop culture and ice in its many forms, Elision is a hilarious yet tender show about what it’s like to feel left out in the cold. Icelandic artist Gudrun Soley Sigurdardottir is desperately trying to stay warm. She invites you to join her in an inflatable tropical paradise as she embarks on a journey to escape the cold and feel the warmth.
