“I saw Deafinitely Theatre’s staging of George Brant’s hit play - about a female fighter pilot who is grounded by pregnancy and who on returning to work finds herself flying drones remotely - at the Park theatre in 2015. And very good it was too. Brant’s play made a splash when it premiered at the Edinburgh festival in 2013 in a very fine production by Christopher Haydon. I doubted it could be bettered but Paula Garfield’s performed in both British sign language and English is absolutely fascinating for the way it shows as the internal and external experiences of a woman whose job it is to press a button and deliver death without trial to those living far away.”
“Originally a one-woman show, Deafinitely Theatre's production uses two actors to creatively combine British Sign Language, visual storytelling and the spoken word.”

Overview

An unexpected pregnancy ends a fighter pilot’s career in the sky. Reassigned to operate military drones from a windowless trailer outside Las Vegas, she hunts terrorists by day and returns for her family each night. As the pressure to track a high-profile target mounts, the boundaries begin to blur between the desert in which she lives and the one she patrols half a world away.

Originally a one-woman show, Deafinitely Theatre's production uses two actors to creatively combine British Sign Language, visual storytelling and the spoken word.

Grounded was filmed at Park Theatre.
