Part of Contact: Stories of Division and Unity

Overview

Becky Biro wants to be famous. Becky deserves to be famous. Becky absolutely should be famous. Becky needs to be famous.

When drag artist Becky Biro is told they need a larger following to be considered for the internationally revered reality competition ‘The Drag Factor’, Becky can smell success. She will do whatever it takes to get there and reap the rewards of her inevitable stardom. Mark her words, Becky will be famous.

Fame Whore promises to be a fast-paced dark-comedy, filled with irreverence and cabaret songs, that will hold a mirror up to the ugly truth of the widespread desire for relevance and the lengths we may go to get there.

Exploring stories of division and unity, Contact features work by some of the capital’s brightest LGBT+ writers and performers including various Above The Stag Theatre alumni. Drag king Len Blanco, playwright Tom Ratcliffe (Velvet - 2019), Ashley Byam (Four Play - 2019), Harry Potter And The Cursed Child star James Phoon (Southern Baptist Sissies - 2017) are among those presenting work. Each performance is followed by an informal Q&A session with the creative team.
